During the high season in July and August, its beaches get crowded by thousands of tourists, especially the local ones. This is a tradition in these months for the wealthy inhabitants of Merida.

Mayapan, here in Mayapan we can see the Light and Shadow phenomena during the solstices of summer and winter. The first one is when the sun reaches its highest inclination to the north in reference to the west. The second one is when the sun reaches its highest inclination to the south in reference to the west.

Loltun, etymologically Loltun comes from the roots Lol – flower and Tun – stone, so it means “stone flower” in the Mayan language. Nowadays, Loltun caves are considered to be in the archaeological site that has the widest chronological sequence.
